Day 1: Arrival at Vágar airport and meetup with the team. When leaving the airport we will first visit to the beautiful town of Bøur and the waterfall of Gásadalur before we settle in our guest-house.

Day 2: In the morning we will take a hike to Sørvágsvatn, one of the most photographed places on the Faroe Islands and famous for ‘the lake that floats above the ocean’. After lunch we discover a spectacular formation of sea stacks, one of the hidden gems on the island of Vágar. We finish our day with a sunset-shoot at our guest-house.

Day 3: Today we will visit the magical village of Saksun. When driving through the valley towards Saksun it feels as if you are part of a Lord of the rings movie. The village and its surroundings offers endless possibilities to fill a day of landscape photography. At the end of this day Davy will host an Instagram Workshop in which you will receive tips & tricks on how to show your work to the world through Instagram.

Day 4: After breakfast we visit Tjørnuvík aka ‘surfers beach’ from where we can see the famous sea stacks Risin & Kellingin for a first time. At Fossá we visit one of the highest waterfalls of the Faroe Islands. Crossing the bridge we arrive on the island of Eysturoy and make a stop in Eiði to see the famous football fields on the edge of the ocean. When we leave Eiði we can see Risin & Kellingin again but then from an other angle. Our final destination of today is Gjógv, known by its 200m long sea-filled gorge.

Day 5: In the morning we will drive up north to Vidoy, the most northern island that can be reached by car. Along the road we will make several stops (Klaksvik, Hvannasund, Árnafjørður, …). In the afternoon we will take a hike to the Funnings Kommuna, which is one of the most famous viewpoints of the Faroe Islands. If time permits, we will then drive to Norõradalur and Kaldbaksbotnur to enjoy the sunset over the ocean.

Day 6: Today we’ll take the ferry to Kalsoy and spend most of the day on this island. Highlight of the day is the hike to the Kalsoy lighthouse which showcases one of the most dramatic cliffs on the Faroe Islands

Day 7: Before we head back to Vágar airport for our flight back home we try to get the most out of our time on the islands and visit several Insta-hotspots along the way to the airport. The Kvivik igloos, the Trøllkonufingur and if time permits a second visit to the picturesque village of Bøur to finish our journey were we started it.

Who are we and why should you join our workshop?

Davy Prenen: As a passionate photographer and videographer I’m at my best in nature. The Nordics therefor have always attracted me as a travel destination. When I came to the Faroe Islands for the first time 2 years ago, I immediately fell in love with this hidden gem in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and wanted to share this experience through my photo’s and bring other landscape-photographers to this magical place. Next to a professional photographer, I’m also a social media consultant and travel blogger, so if you are looking for tips and tricks to make the Insta-perfect photo from the Faroe Islands I’m happy to share my knowledge with you. In Dec 2016, after my first trip to the Faroe Islands I was granted a take-over of the Visit Faroe Islands Instagram account to showcase my work.

Kristof Massoels: I love being dropped off in remote places, in the middle of a sturdy environment. Off the beaten track is where my heart beats faster. The insignificant feeling that you experience while being there… In my photos i try to capture that feeling and my awe for mother nature. But also afterwards, while editing those photos i try to stay as close as possible to that place and that experience. Never to forget how dazzling it was.

Disclaimer

We will definitely help you out getting the best shots, but we are no weather Gods. That means we can’t guarantee the best weather conditions. The Faroe Islands are located in the middel of the North Atlantic Ocean, so the weather conditions can change rapidly. Please take in consideration that the Trip itinerary mentioned on this page will be adapted ad-hoc as the weather conditions change during our trip and that we can’t guarantee that all locations listed will be visited. But like the Faroe people say: “If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 min”.

Fitness level and expected attitude

While most of our shooting locations will be accessible within a 60 minute hike from the car, we might go on a longer hike if we decide to photograph some of the mountain tops on the Faroe Islands. Nevertheless we will always operate as a group and will adapt our hikes to the fitness level of the group. (or our fitness level if the group turns out to be fitter ;) )

As the weather conditions change rapidly on the Faroe Islands we will have to adapt our planning ad-hoc to the weather conditions. Therefor we expect you to have a ‘go-with-the-flow-attitude’, to be a team player and to be open minded.

Cancellation & refund policy

We ask a payment of 50% of the full amount at the moment of registration and the another 50% 2 months before the startdate of the workshop.
